Well I stopped at the dealer last night and looked at a bottle of the XPS chaincase lube. I didn't get a picture because it doesn't say much.

The only thing it mentioned on it was GL-5. No mention of VG-100, or any mention of it's viscosity.
That helps a little Wolff. GL-5 oils can be quite a few different viscosities though, so we have no way of knowing what the weight is, yet. Ever gear oil from AMSOIL is GL-5 compatable, and they vary in weights, so you have to match the weight. Here is a link to the webpage on the actual AMSOIL site for the chaincase oil. No mention of weight or anything, just a listing of the products it is a sutable replacement for.

I guess the real question to ask is what oil do Rebel Renegade and Rene1 use, since they both have had gear case failures, that may not be the best oil, not that the oil is the known cause by any means, we just know they did have failures, and they are the only ones I've heard of.

Okay guys this the last one. Its been beat to death......INFO ONLY from this web site...Post #32..Just read the whole deal its full of good info. Crewdog506, sorry If I ruffled the feathers...It was spanish not french. "Buenos Nachos"..That's good night in "Spanglish."

I found this today on BRP Ski Doo site..Now I can't find the stupid link but I did cut and past the oil info before I lost the link. Like I suspected the Synthetic oil does come in two different viscosities..Plus the mineral based oil. This confirms post #32. The Amsoil 2000 Chain case oil is a direct replacement for these oils..For what that's worth.

This is the BRP XP-S synthetic oil

Synthetic Chain case oil 75W140 355 ml
part# 413803300

Mineral Chaincase oil 80W90,250ml
Part#413801900

Syntetic Chaincase oil 75W90
part# 293600043

I use nothing but BRP oils in engine, trans and both diffs.

Well recently I ordered some chain case oil from amsoil. 2/12 oz bottles. After reading this topic I thought I would give a shout out to amsoil and ask what the specs were for the series 2000 chain case oil and this is what they replied with;

Scott,

Thank you for contacting AMSOIL with your questions.

The Series 2000 Chaincase Oil (product code TCC) is a low viscosity gear oil that is around the viscosity range of SAE 30 engine oil. It has the extreme pressure additives that are in gear oils, but needs to circulate more freely in chain cases than your typical gear oil viscosity oils can.

We hope this is helpful.

This is all they gave me. Seems like grandmas secret recipe is still a secret! I hope this info was helpful.

Hello Scott.
I guess this guy must have thought you visited their website and required additional information. At least now you (and anyone else that reads this thread) has contact information at AMSOIL - thats good! The website does give you information on this oil, click on this link to view the product information on the Series 2000 Synthetic Chain Case oil >AMSOIL SITE I am using this oil in both my Outlanders, and I have found that it helps the transmission to shift better and there is a lot less of the characteristic "humping" that is sometimes required to shift gears. I don't work for AMSOIL, but I have to say that I am pleased with their products that I have been using in my ATV's and vehicles, and if you plan on using a fair amount of their product, become a "Preferred Customer" by paying a membership fee of $30/year to receive considerable discounts when purchasing that will save you more than $30 in one year.

Amsoil or any other oil can NOT be the cause for a warranty claim to be refused. If whatever brand of oil meets the SAE requirments and you run proper grade for your climate then its fine. What can cause a refusal is the change interval being extended based on oil brand claims. I for one run Amsoil in everything I own and do the extended drain intervals on my cars because I know Amsoil stands behind their products. On the Outty I change all fluids once a year and coolant every second year.

I just changed my tranny oil from Amsoil chain case 2000 to Amsoil severe gear 75-140 and wow what a difference. No more rocking to get in gear and after 10min ride I could touch the tranny and it was only warm to the touch not scorching hot. I did the RBL bearing and isoflex about 200km ago and that helped but this new oil topped it off.

Hey, I'm almost coming up to the first oil change I have to do, and I'm curious about what everyone runs/recommends for oil. The dealer put in their own "brp" oil but I'm most likely going to switch to royal purples max life atv oil ( the dealer said its probably better and cheaper than the brp oil)

I checked my oil and I'm down a little but I'm wondering if I can just add off-the-shelf 5w30 for the time being prior to changing the oil which will happen probably not this weekend but next. (5w30 is what the manual calls for, and I'm not talking cheap oil but a better quality 5w30 that will be happy with the brp flavor)
Catrol gtx 5/ 40 or 5/30 whatever the bike goes for full synthetic Mc oil far superior to dealer barrel oil. You can feel the difference. I do not know why someone in the thread said they hate synthetic oil way better for motorcycle engines especially.
