I have done this several times
1) Remove Rear tires
2) Remove the 13mm hex head bolt from inside of each of the drive shaft yokes. If the diff has never been removed, they will be VERY tight.
3) Remove rear brake caliper by removing (2) 13mm hex head bolts.
4) Remove trailer hitch if the bike has one.
5) Remove (4) 15mm hex head blots from the top and bottom of the rear diff.
6) Slide rear diff backward until the drive shaft comes off of the gearbox output shaft.

To install, backtrack these steps. Appy loctite to the 13mm hex head bolts in each drive shaft yoke.

Tip:
It is not necessary to remove the rear shocks to slide the rear diff backward.
It is HELPFUL to have at least the bottom bolts of the rear shocks removed to slide the rear diff back in to place. If the bolts are not removed, you will be fighting against the shocks to get the diff back in place.
If you remove the shock bolts MAKE SURE to tie the rear axles up with something. Bungee cords will work well. If the rear axles are over-extended downward, the CV joints can come apart and that will cause you a LOT of work to get them put back together.

Im replacing the rear drive shaft propeller from the transmission/engine case to the rear differential.

The rear differential needs to be pulled off as well?? looks like I wouldnt need too?

The challange I seem to have and wonder what Im missing? was getting the shaft out of the transmission. I took out the 4 10mm bolts but it wont come out? also dont know what the star or hex pattern is for the rear disc?

Ok I understand, Becasue my shaft was apart I didnt see the bolts inside the yokes.

The bolts are very very tight and dont think i can get with what I have. (Do u know if they loosen clock or counter clock)

Counter clockwise will loosen the yoke bolt . On my bike the box end (14 mm I think) Just fits behind the u-joint.
I leave my caliper on and lock the park/brake to break it free. It's a PITA but be patient you'll get it.
Don't forget to clean the female part and loc-tite it upon reassembly . I learned the hard way ! Good luck

Make sure the two u-joints are sync'd when you get the new ones on and put the slip-yoke back together. Wasn't an issue for me as I never took the slip yoke apart.

 

did it today the same but only needed to remove one tire, and no need to remove the shocks, actually did it twice as i heard clicking and noticed i forgot to sync the u joints as noticed, so i had to do it twice.
the new yoke i got did not have the steel clllar on it so oil spat out on the floor so i cut the old yoke a part and pressed the collar on to the new one with a hammer and socket.

 

I dont know if its something I did? or just time for a rear diff repair or replacement as well? I feel I did a clean replacement
of the shaft, bolts nice and tight, u-joints are sync'd etc.

The quad on my first ride out about an hour in pertty much lock up and/or bind in the rear diff? Now its like it broke free and is running
fine again but dont wanna push it. Any advice on what to look at im gonna take it apart again. Could I have had the rear CV shafts pop
out and not popped in correctly? Are the diffs on the 06/07 just trash? If im a little out of sync but cant tell an issue? etc etc
