Does anyone have any suggestion as far as set-up for a dalton dbo 650 kit? such as running it with no rivets, alum rivets or steel rivets. I have a bone stock 08 650 with 27 in zillas.

thanks

Why you even messing with the clutch? I run the 27" zillas on my 500 with no problems. Your 650 should turn them easily.

Ive heard a few folks comment on the 500 having the "best clutch setup" I dont have nor have ridden a 500 so i cant agree or disagree... I can say however that the 400 definitely leaves something to be desired and my 800 too. Mostly depends on what size tires your running, trails vs mud, and rider weight.

Regardless of motor, tires and riding I would try it with no rivets first, if the engagement is too high for your liking. Then try it with the rivets in. Its easier to put the rivets in than take them out.

It all comes down to personal preference... Somebody might make some suggestions that worked for them or that work well for a general starting point, but i would tinker around with it until your satisfied.

a clutch kit will work great for you...as it will also you pikeman in your 500...just cause a machine runs great doesnt mean it cant be better

on the 650 im not sure what to run but on my 800 outlander I run 3 dalton weights and steel/hollow rivets and the green/yellow primary spring..the secondary is stock...that works well with my 28" zillas...

in my 800 gade I ran the same thing except there was no rivets in the 3 dalton weights..

remember if you install it that you put a dalton weight every other stock weight...if you get what I mean..

hope that helps a bit..

I think i will try with no weights at first then try the steel. we will see. I think their is always a little more to be add. trial and error. i guess this might make sense stiff. you have a 800 and 1 size bigger zilla wouldnt that even out a little. so my 650 with 27's should run the same with the same kit green/yellow and steel rivets.

makes sense but your helix is also different than the 800s...it gives a tighter grip..but like you said try with nothing...and see where your rpm are and see what you like...you honestly might like the aluminum rivets...

I forgot to mention my old outlander 800 (2007) I had the same setup but the aluminum rivets in the levers and it worked great...

lol

trial and error and everyone likes something else..

just remember once the rivets are installed you cannot use them again...they have to be drilled out...they are like $10 CND for a new set...

I installed the DBO 650 kit tonight, took about an hour not bad. Took for a quick spin engage around 2150 and full shift out at 7250(Road was a little slippery). This is without any rivets I would say it is spot on,what you think?. Seems like it has a little more bottom. Cant wait to do a full ride.

The kit I got from dalton dbo 650, I have in my 2007 outlander 650 and they suggest with no weights in the instructions. I have no problems, tried it with the alummin rivets was just too much engament burnt a belt on me.

i just got a dalton dbo650 kit for my 650 max. installed 26in bighorns last fall and have lost midrange. these tires certainly a lot heavier than stock and look a lot bigger circumference. so according to the instructions and what i have read here is use the new spring and no rivets added ?? for you sleders revy had over 3 feet up topin last 24hrs and still snowing hard here in salmon arm and there also. al
