Hello all.

I am new to the Can-AM talk would like to see if I can get the latest on aftermarket power steering. I have read some of the other posts on here but they are all from several years ago, at least the ones that I have seen.

I am looking to install on a 2009 (gen1) renegade 800.

My question is what do the enthusiasts that have installed them think? Are they worth the cash? how long do they last and is there any suggestions on which to buy. I have been looking at one from superatv.com. This unit does not look like it has any adjustablitiy to it just the speed sensor that is hooked to the quad

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've yet to read anything good about aftermarket power steering. If there was something out there worthy of being installed there are a bunch of us here that would be all over it.

Best bet is new frame, wiring harness, computer display, stator, and lastly the OEM power steering.
That's really the best option. Or, new with factory eps. Otherwise, this is the best and most reliable bet.

If you read the reviews on SuperATV, most are very good. Had a friend with it on a 09 Renegade.....no issues. Know several who have used it on Mavericks and Commanders......no issues.

For $500 or whatever it cost, that is much less than trading for an XXC model!

Aftermarket power steering on the quads is junk. The sxs vehicles use a different system that seems to work good, but they need to spend some time on the quad systems. I wouldn't read reviews for a product from the company itself. I'd read reviews on forums, like this, and they will show the quad system is terrible at best. Save your money...

For $500 it might be worth a shot. $750 is a lot of coin to throw out on something that's not proven. Up to you. Cheaper than a new quad. I guess you could always sell it if it didn't work out.

What's the difference between 750 and 500? Nothing.
It's the time lost doing the work only to find 10 degrees of steering play and delays in the assist.

I'm looking at it from a steering dampener standpoint. For ~ $500 you can get the percission dampener. $250 is the other difference. Idk. Maybe he'll like the aftermarket unit. Brian liked his somewhat until his steering shaft broke. Might be what he's looking for. Just depends on how he rides.

I have install the super atv PS unit on my 2009 Renegade and I LOVE IT! No delays no problems with charging an works great as a dumpner.
Got it thru a dealer for $700. It was little time consuming to install. It took me 8hrs and 6 beers by myself. Drove in Moab for 150 miles for the very
First time without any problems. Come home check all the bolts and mounts had to tighten two bolts and that was it. It was my bad for not using locktite. I've used electronic contact grease on all electrical and so far so good. In my opinion well worth the $$$.
Less than new ride. It does come with 2 year warranty.

I no longer can say I've yet to hear any good reports about it.

I would like to hear more after you get more time and mileage.

That right, You cant. LoL

I was very skeptical about it at first but decided that it was way cheaper than buying new ride specially when I love my so much and have set up just the way I always wanted. ( FOX Podiums, HyPer wheels, Warn Winch, Ricochet black skid plates, Rigid D2's, Bison rear rack with Rotopax, snow plow, heated seat grips and thumb...The only think to make it "PERFECT" was power steering. Now its great. I will sure report as the miles rack up. Expect another report around April.

Hope it is a quality item:)

My friend had SuperATV on his 2008 Rene. It was hokey at best. Was not a cheap install either. He was not very happy with it.

As far as the currency issue, 250, 500 and 750 is not what it used to be. !

DSCN3907.JPG DSCN3942.JPG DSCN3926.JPG That is correct. Now they have generation 2 EPS. That is what I have installed on my Gade.

Update. Just got back from Moab. Best time ever, few new tough trails lots of rocks and big rock crawling. Total 300 miles in 4 days of some crazy riding. Power steering perform flawlessly. Total about 560 miles on this unit and zero problems so far. My arms do not get "beat up" any more. GOOD PRODUCT.
