#830289 clutch loc mod???

Posted by spdcrazy1 on 11 April 2017 - 09:42 AM

Listen to Shortmag.  He is the foremost authority on many things but maybe none more so than Clutches.  He was my adviser on clutch choice and trust me when I say it was spot on and truly changed my 1000.

There is always a temptation to add parts and to work the status quo into a better solution and maybe there is incremental gains to be had. But while some primaries are not necessarily inexpensive, there is true beauty in a plug and play solution that performs beyond expectation. I much prefer to be riding that wrenching!

FYI, Adam is tough to get on the phone and is really focusing on manufacturing and support to the wholesale segment as I understand it, I could be wrong but have tried first hand to get him.  He's a busy guy!

QSC number #1 re seller, RVS Performance sells the QSC and STM among other products, and while it looks he's biased toward Polaris machines (per his website)  I assure you he does lots of Can AM stuff. He did my ECU for the '16 1000R, and made a second tweek at no charge when I made a mod, and I could not be happier. It runs well.  RVS customer service is incredible as Ryan, the owner, answers the phone every time.  Check the website for a better picture but really call Ryan and tell him what you need or are thinking about.  You'll get advice and competitive if not better prices on any product out there. He will also tell you if the money you want to spend is a foolish move.

For the G1 platform I also put Jeff, THEBOMRACING, in the same category, great guy, super customer service, great pricing.  The two of them are truly what we need to cover our Can Am product line.

I do put a lot of value on customer service as these guys are experts and in general most of us do not have the same amount of time to know enough to be experts. That allows us to do the fun stuff---RIDE!

So basically everything.  Much easier to just say everything except the power washing!

Spend some money, man up and forget about adding weight, get some cams and take those weights out!

Also see the pic I sent u via text of what I'm using to lock the primary when taking it off and putting it on.  Its working great.

I also still have my G1 and will probably never sell it.  While its the step brother of the brand new 2011 I totaled in GA last year, it still feels like an old pair of shoes that just fit so well.

As for receipts, I do not discuss that topic in any digital or verbal format that my wife maybe able to hack into or overhear.

As I was touched (actually my Rene) by the great and powerful Shortmag's wisdom, I can say with 100% confidence and conviction that I (and my Rene) have never been happier with his recommendation for my clutching solution. Take note all: wisdom is something that comes with experience, the ability to understand what the heck is going on, and most importantly the ability to state what simply makes sense.

The goal of all this is to be riding and enjoying it.  Find the balance and ENJOY!

Footy---I just did a real quick and dirty review of the GNCC lap times for similar locations in 2010 and 2016.  Also tried to use the same rider or the winning times.  Times are faster in 2016 but it appears the times in 2016 are also more consistent. Clearly lots of variable are in the mix but from a high level your assertion of the times is bearing out.

I have a brand new take off from my 2016 Rene XXC.  I will come up with a price and shipping cost if interested.  Let me know.

That third pic is just incredible.  You never get to see trails in that perspective except from the air.  I'd love to get an HD version of it to use as wallpaper.

Thanks for sharing!

#764866 What did you get for Christmas 2015?

Posted by spdcrazy1 on 30 December 2015 - 09:33 AM

The question is what the kids did not get....!  Although Santa did ok by me as well---- a new pair of Sidi Crossfire 2 SRS riding boots, Rigid LED bar for Rene, replaced my old Silverado 1500 with newer Sierra 2500 HD and got the green light from the wife to do a riding trip in Jan down south for a week.  Sadly no AR though! LOL!

Happy Holidays to all.

#685017 RIP JAY "OUTTY3" - You will be missed

Posted by spdcrazy1 on 11 April 2015 - 06:51 AM

I had the privilege to know Jay for unfortunately a much shorter time that I would have hoped for.  With Jay though it was all about the quality of time with him not the quantity.  He offered guidance and spot on help to all that reached out.  He went out of his way to make people better off, offering insight and genuine concern on many different topics.  Its safe to say that with nearly 14,000 posts on this forum that at some point he touched every member and a good number of anyone who's ever owned a Can Am, anywhere. That in itself is the testament of a special person in a time when many of us struggle to find the effort to tend to just our own needs.  For all those that knew him either through the written word or in person consider yourself fortunate to have had that and recognize that people like Jay do not come along too often.  We will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Thanks Jay for counseling me. The impact was significant and will be measured each time I think to ask what Jay would think about that !!!

#620458 Extra lighting.

Posted by spdcrazy1 on 10 December 2014 - 11:11 PM

I started to look at the light bars and then saw a posting for the LED headlight replacements.  I bought the Cree #9005 6000k 2400 LM unit. I had to install them in the high beam sockets as with the Rath bumper there is not enough space behind the low beam sockets.  Its about 1/4 too narrow,  I tried them out around the yard.  I was blown away by the amount of light.  They totally washout the OEM low beams when both are on.  I think they cost me 59.99.  Comes complete with plug adapter wires.
