My quad has been running perfect. One day I got on it and it starts and idles but is very gutless and bogs..
Best way to describe would like a ski doo running on one cyl. You've prob all experienced that.
I changed the plug and I pulled the carb apart and cleaned it, the little screen under the float had abit of dirt.. no change.. checked and cleaned the air filter aswell..
I read online that some ģuys say ir could be the fuel pump. Any ideas would be great. Im running outta them.

Hope this works. Its kinda hard to tell but as you see. Put it to the pin and it has a delay and never gets to full rpm.
Any ideas?

So just to list off everything that i did..
- Changed plug
- cleaned air filter
- removed carb, cleaned everything including the little screen under the float.
- changed cracked intake neck (rubber carb boot)
- pulled valved cover checked timing of chain
- Drained oil and checked for metal (Thought maybe burned a hole in piston
- added Sea Foam to gas
-tried running separate gas line through gas cap from pump direct to carb so no blockage in lines
- did alot of cursing...
All with no change.. Need some ideas..
Thanks

Sounds like you have done the normal checks ok, time to start looking deeper.

Take the cvt cover off and make sure the clutches are operating correctly.

Check for a blockage in the exhaust maybe.

Maybe a brake issue. :TgC_emoticon142:

Yeah. I thought about the clutches too. Thought maybe stuck in a higher engagement.but it bogs even in neutral and never gets to full rpm.
And I checked the exhaust as best I could. Seems fine.
Amd since it does it in neutral its not the brakes. But thanks for the ideas.

Do the 400 have the fuel pump at the bottom of the tanks like the 800's did? if so maybe the sock is clogged. i know that use to be an issue on the bottom feeder tanks.

Check the Choke plunger assembly on the carb.

I have seen the housings crack as they are only plastic threaded in to the carb body and/or the needle/plunger are gummed up simulating the choke being partially on.

Ok.. the carb has been apart twice and cleaned completely..so its not gummed up.. i pulled choke plunger out again and looked closely. No cracks.. i covered it in gasket maker just im case it was not sealing.. still the same..
I think its about time to trade it in on another 450L

So I took it out to camp on the weekend. Actually wasn't too bad on Saturday. Bottom end was ok and had some good speed at top end just abit of hesitation at mid range..
Then sat all day in the rain on Sunday. On monday is right back to original "no power " .. i don't get it. Can't be much of a problem. Just out of ideas.
