i own an 08 outlander 800xt, 40 hrs on it and since new my front brakes make noise after riding in the mud and water. Also the front brakes fade. Dealer looked at it 3 times and found no problems. 3 rd time they replace all pads. The noise is still there and the brake fade is to. The dealer said it's normal. I said nothing is normal when you here noise and loose your brakes. This happens when using the lever for both front and back brakes. Outlander should have a seperate alone lever for the front brakes like the renagade. I love the bike but the brake problem is a headache for me. What should I do.

Thanks Rege

It is normal with the factory BRP pads when wet and muddy. It is a horrible grinding sound. I replaced mine with a set of EBC and it made a difference.

I had the dealer replace the pads for the EBC pads, still noise and brake fade.

BRP should use EBC pads - we have a state of the art machine with junk pads...

Well guys this is my first official post. I joined last night and have already found a lot of useful things, the first of which being this break issue. I have only owned my 09 outlander 650 for 4hrs and my breaks make a horrible noise. Thanks for the info and assurance that this isnt just my bike. Ride hard / Play hard

8 hours on my 09 Outty 800 and I have the same issue. My riding buddies look at me like it's gonna just fall apart. That's my only dissappointment so far though.

I bought the kevlar pads off Ebay and it elimanted 98% of my brake problems my stock ones were gone at 1500kms. Now the grinding noise is almost all gone, i say almost because when we were snow riding the other day it chatterd a slight bit nothing like it did. they seem to be lasting well and for under 40$ bucks what the heck.
